Filip Černý

Filip Černý

Filip Černý (born 26 April 1975 in Prague) is a Czech painter and visual artist. He studied painting under Jiří Sopko at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1995–2002). His studio is at Pragovka Art District in Prague.

The painting as an open situation

Černý’s work brings together the figure, landscape, interior and abstract composition. Pictorial illusion, stencils, airbrush and direct brushwork transform recognisable motifs. Alongside optical depth, his work addresses the actual surface and space of painting.
