Goal 4 · Strategic (biannual goal review and outreach)
Appeal to institutions and galleries
Institutional validation, professional rigour, contextual relevance, reliability and professionalism.
Rationale (why)
Gallery institutions seek professional rigour, consistency, and the ability to articulate one's work. A curator needs a partner for discussion, not merely a supplier of canvases.
Action plan (how)
- Artist statement: maintain a polished statement (ideally up to 300 words, in Czech and English) — conceptual background, chosen methods, philosophical reach.
- Structured PDF portfolio: the website is for quick overview. For curators, keep a cleanly laid-out PDF as a cross-section of production with dates, techniques, and exhibition history.
- Tracking and outreach: map the gallery scene. Select five galleries that fit thematically. Arrange a meeting with a curator. Apply regularly to open calls.
Example in practice
When sending a portfolio to a curator, do not attach a ZIP of unnamed JPGs. Send one optimised PDF — each work on its own page, clear captions, opening with a textual anchor for the practice and CV.
